New Directions Spring Arts Festival: Nowspace

A new project by Michelle Leftheris, Assistant Professor in Studio Art

Nowspace is an online, live-streaming observatory which collects video from cameras pointed at the sky across globe. In this immersive web-based artwork, multiple streams are collaged into a singular composition of a synthesized view of the world’s skies. Acting as an open window, a portal to everywhere at once, Nowspace is a vehicle for engaging with the natural world through virtual means. A portion of the project will be presented as a physical installation and will be on view for the duration of the festival.
