The Slow Professor: Challenging the Culture of Speed in the Academy, by Barbara K. Seeber and Maggie Berg, is one of the most discussed recent books about higher education. It offers a distinctive perspective on the current condition of the academy, and it contends that higher education could benefit from the “slow” movement shaping so many arenas, including food, architecture, and personal relations. We are interested in your thoughts on The Slow Professor and the related concepts of slow teaching and the slow campus. Jim Ralph and Bill Koulopoulos will frame a discussion of this brief, but thought-provoking book. The CTLR will provide a copy for you, if do not already have one.
