The Q-Center is hosting a STEM Placement Fair, a drop-in event for those interested in taking an introductory STEM course on Thursday, 11/7 from 3-5 pm. You will be able to speak with faculty and advisors about the placement process in various disciplines, key skills and concepts required, and your options for a first course in STEM based on your background.  

This month’s lunch discussion topic will be teaching Gen Z students. What happens when students come to college less willing and able to do the work? This lunch gathering covers an important subject for veteran as well as new faculty and provides a great opportunity to meet new colleagues.

The landscape of higher education is rapidly evolving, and AI is at the forefront of this transformation.

The CTLR, WRPR, and DLINQ cordially invite you to a vital lunch discussion on AI integration in education on 10/8 (12:15 lunch starts, 12:30 discussion begins). This gathering focuses on your experiences, questions, and concerns regarding AI in the classroom. We’ll also hear from colleagues about their exploratory and innovative applications of AI.

We aim to:

Learn about these fellowships for seniors and alumni. UK fellowships include Rhodes, Marshall, Churchill and Gates-Cambridge. Fellowships support graduate study and postgraduate research and independent projects in various fields. The session led by Dean Lisa Gates will provide a quick overview of the fellowships and nomination process. This is a great session for Febs and students heading abroad in the spring.

Faculty – new and not so new – have an opportunity once a month to gather for a casual and congenial lunch together in the CTLR and to share their perspectives on a given topic. For the September lunch (Friday, September 20^th), we will discuss student letters of accommodation. Lunches later this Fall will focus on topics such as campus resources, open access scholarship, and getting non-teaching work done in a busy semester.

This lunchtime event showcases the valuable work underway in the Center for Community Engagement as the November presidential election nears. How could you use the CCE’s democracy guide to shape class activities? What reflections from fellow faculty and what resources from the CCE’s Democracy Initiatives staff might be useful as you aim to foster student engagement around civic dialogue and voter engagement?
