Barbara Ofosu-Somuah '13 Fulbright and Watson Fellowships Talk

Join Barbara Ofosu-Somuah ’13 for a Fulbright and Watson fellowships talk with Dean Lisa Gates.

Barbara, who has received both a Fulbright and Watson, studied psychology, sociology and Italian at Middlebury. During her Watson, she explored the role of hair in Black, Latina and multiracial cultures in several countries. During her Fulbright, she examined diversity and inclusion efforts in Italian schools.

Learn about Fall 2018 fellowship opportunities and application processes for seniors and recent graduates. These include British fellowships (Gates-Cambridge, Rhodes, Marshall, Mitchell), Fulbright, NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, and the Watson fellowship among others. Fall 2018 application processes for British fellowships, the Watson and Fulbright begin in the Spring 2018 semester. If you plan to be abroad in the spring, this is a great session to attend!

Attention first-years, sophomores and juniors: learn about fellowships with late fall/ winter deadlines: Beinecke, Critical Language Scholarship (CLS), Goldwater, Pickering, Rangel, Truman, Udall and more. Most of these are only open to sophomores and juniors—but a few are also open to first-years. These are all different, but include awards for graduate study, summer study, and undergraduate study in various fields: science and math; environmental studies; public service; foreign service, humanities, social sciences, study of selected languages.

DLA Behind the Scenes Series: Museums Enter the Digital Age - Sarah Laursen

Join us on Tuesday, April 17th from 12:15-1:30pm for our next Behind the Scenes presentation.

Sarah Laursen is researching ancient Chinese gold for a book project and an exhibition that will be held at the Middlebury College Museum of Art in the fall of 2019. She will discuss the process of creating a database to organize her English and Chinese data, as well as her preparations for the exhibition, which will include 3D digital models made using photogrammetry, interactive maps, and videos about metalsmithing.
