Digital Learning and Inquiry - MIIS

Faculty, staff, and students are all welcome to attend this writing group. The purpose is simply to offer a time and space to write during the week. This allows you to put it in your calendar so you can make regular progress on your writing goals, especially if you “have been meaning to write more.” It’s also an opportunity to meet with other writers at MIIS. No writing critiques or sharing your writing, unless you want to. We just get together and write. Drop in whenever you want.

The Office of Digital Learning & Inquiry (DLINQ) invites you to swing by our first “DiscoTech.” Inspired by community-based events originally developed by the Detroit Digital Justice Coalition, a DiscoTech adopts the theme of “Discovering Technology” by bringing together technologists, organizers, and community members to demystify digital tools and practices in a fun, approachable, and accessible environment.

Guest facilitator Angela Gunder (Director of Instructional Design and Curriculum Development at Arizona State University) will help us explore how narrative structure can be used in online learning design to support student engagement. (Come prepared to play!) This workshop is aimed at faculty and staff who are interested in designing hybrid or online learning. Come explore Virtual Reality (VR), mindfulness & meditation booths with aromatherapy, arts & crafts, and refreshing refreshments to further recharge you. Join us on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, from 12:00 PM – 05:00 PM in the DLC, located in the McGowen Building.
