Want to learn more about hybrid teaching and learning will look like this fall? Come by the Design Space in the Digital Learning Commons (or join us online via Zoom) during one of our hybrid learning open house sessions. Students, staff, and faculty will have the chance to observe, interact, and engage with new academic technology that supports the presence of in-person and virtual participation.

Guest facilitator Angela Gunder (Director of Instructional Design and Curriculum Development at Arizona State University) will help us explore how narrative structure can be used in online learning design to support student engagement. The Office of Digital Learning & Inquiry (DLINQ) invites the MIIS community to come Recharge your mind and your body during finals with us at the Digital Learning Commons (DLC). Come explore Virtual Reality (VR), mindfulness & meditation booths with aromatherapy, arts & crafts, and refreshing refreshments to further recharge you. Join us on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, from 12:00 PM – 05:00 PM in the DLC, located in the McGowen Building.

Want to help improve our digital information environments? Want to help combat misinformation on the web? Join the Newspapers-on-Wikipedia Edit-a-thon on October 26, 12pm – 4pm in the DLC Design Space. We will be researching and writing Wikipedia articles about historic (older than 30 years) local (CA) newspapers. By adding Wikipedia pages about these newspapers, we will be helping people to find reliable information about the news sources they see on the web.
