The end of semester concert of Ensemble 246 (A Cappella Ensemble Performance MUSC 0246) includes music from global traditions and North American musical styles. Port-a-beul (“mouth music”), Spiritual, Estonian art music, Georgian folk, Nigerian traditional, Medieval and Renaissance polyphony, and Barbershop are among the musical styles in the repertoire.

Free Improvisation and the Liberal Arts Series Artist in Residence Elliott Sharp and Assistant Professor of Music Matthew Evan Taylor present the music of the students of MUSC 1026.  This concert is the culmination of intensive work and study of improvisational practices and how these elements inform composition. Sharp is an American contemporary classical composer, multi-instrumentalist, and performer, and a central figure in New York City’s avant-garde and experimental music scene since the late 1970s. Free
