Auditions for the 29th Annual First Year Show!!

Join us on Friday, September 16th from 6-9pm in MAC 232 to audition for the First Year Show. For 27 years and counting, we’ve welcomed incoming students by inviting them to be part of the First Year Show. This faculty-directed, ensemble production featuring scripts by Middlebury students comes together quickly—just in time for Fall Family weekend. It’s supported by a team of student designers and crew, making the show a great introduction to the department and the college.

In Don Taylor’s new translation of Euripides’ classic tragedy, women survivors wait to be shipped abroad from the industrial port of a war-torn city. Officials come and go. A grandmother, once queen, watches as her remaining family is taken from her one by one. The city burns around them. First performed in 415 BC, this lyrical poem of grief and savage irony is as relevant today as it was then. Directed by Vanessa Mildenberg. Sponsored by the Theatre Program.
