Commemoration event for the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi

An annual celebration of traditional Christmas music and biblical texts of the season. Led by Dean of Spiritual and Religious Life, Mark R. Orten, and Middlebury College Choir Musical Director, Jeffrey Buettner.

Two services, at 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Donations will be accepted for local charities.

The College Choir presents a spring concert of powerful, playful, and pensive choral music by composers from Brazil, Mexico, Ukraine, England, and Italy, as well as Spiritual, folk, and new music from the USA. Choir and instrumentalists perform the Vermont premiere of selections from the new cantata, We Are Phoenix (2025), by Minnesota composer Timothy Takach, and Vermont musician Tom Mackenzie joins on hammered dulcimer for music of and inspired by folk traditions. Free admission.

Join George Matthew Jr. on his 90th birthday as he plays a beautiful concert from Middlebury Chapel’s bell tower. The melodic sounds of the carillon bells will ring out across the campus. This concert, as part of the New England Chapter American Bell Association (NECABA), will feature works by Bach and Haydn as well as a mix of traditional Irish, Ukrainian, and Mexican songs. Free and open to the public.

Celebrate the graduating members of the Middlebury Mischords and The Dissipated Eight in their final concert! We promise laughs and heartfelt beautiful music. 

Zolotoj Plyos is a unique folk-ensemble from Europe, whose members sing and play songs and instrumental tunes from Eastern Europe. They perform the oral traditions of many regions in Ukrainian, Belorussian, Georgian, Russian, Roma, Armenian, and Yiddish. They will play over 30 musical instruments.

Dean of Spiritual & Religious Life Mark R. Orten will lead an ecumenical Christian service and imposition of ashes.  Prof. Mary Jane Simpson, guest preacher.
