BIPOC Voices at MIIS speaker series speaker event - Dione Ybarra
Join us in the 1st of our BIPOC Voices speakers series in a conversation with Dionne Ybarra.
Dionne is a Mexican American native to East Salinas, who later in life’s introduction to the ocean through surfing sparked a passion of sharing this empowerment with the youth of marginalized communities just like East Salinas. Dionne is the founding director of the Wahine Project, the owner of the eco-friendly zero-waste store Alma Del Mar, and Chairperson for Monterey County’s Civil Rights Office. She is also co-author of Step Up to Run: Women Shaping the Future of Politics and Public Policy.
Please join us either in person or virtually in what will be an incredible conversation with a reception to follow.
This event is a collaboration between MIIS’s Student Council, Sustainability Impact Lab, Center for the Blue Economy, and VP Office.
Location: MG102 and online.
