Ever since the birth of the Web we have experienced uneven access to the digital world. The digital divide has shaped our online lives, and has persisted through the present day, despite many policies and programs. Today the divide is both more important than ever, given the large role the online world plays in our lives, and more challenging, in the wake of the FCC’s decision to end net neutrality. In this session we explore that important divide, and analyze what it means for liberal education. We discuss different solutions, along with pedagogical and cultural issues.
