The 32nd Mini-Monterey Model is a collaborative event with Chinese, Japanese & Language Studies Program and Interpretation Practicum class to showcase content research result in target languages, being simultaneously interpreted into English and other languages. 

TESOL/TFL Capstone students will report on their teaching Practicum and Applied Linguistics Capstone projects and current students will share on a project from this semester which was particularly impactful for them. Pizza & Potluck as well!

TLM students are encouraged to attend the Fall TLM Townhall, which will be held in two parts, part one in the end of the fall semester and part two in the beginning of the spring semester. This townhall is a place for students to come and join a moderated discussion and give feedback about the TLM program. This is a student-only event. All feedback will be anonymized. A pizza lunch and beverages will be provided to in-person attendees. Zoom will be available for remote attendees.

TLM students and faculty are invited to a casual social hour for the program. Come to chat with your peers and enjoy some food and beverages!

All are welcome to meet at the peace pole in the MIIS garden on November 1 from 12:30 to 1:30 to hold a vigil for peace and honor the lives of those lost in recent conflicts, as well as our other loved ones who have passed away. Nov. 1 is the traditional day to honor the dead in many cultures, known as “Day of the Dead” in Mexico. You’re welcome to bring a photo, a prayer, a poem, flowers. The space is a safe and inclusive space to honor our collective grief and losses. Some flowers will be provided by the KWD Collaborative in Conflict Transformation.

We will go over application tips, talk about how to center your personal experiences in application essays, what themes to focus on that will make for a solid application, and more.
