Join the Cyber Collaborative as we welcome our new cybersecurity professor, Dr. Karen Nershi! We will be discussing new cybersecurity courses offered at MIIS, career paths and opportunities in the cyber career field, and share tales from darkest corners of the internet.

In this presentation, Anne Dumontier introduces her novel Disparue à Pétra, which was published in France in January by éditions Nouvelle Cité. The novel is a blend of historical facts and personal narrative, inspired by the tragic 1963 flood in Petra, Jordan, where 23 French tourists lost their lives—a story that captured media attention at the time, including coverage in Paris Match.

TLM Students and faculty are invited to a casual social hour with their peers at Alvarado Street Brewery (426 Alvarado Street, Monterey). This will be the final social hour of the academic year. Come take a breath before graduation or take a break from finals to socialize with your peers!

Speaker Steedman Hinckley served seven presidents analyzing and advising on Soviet/Russian affairs at the White House, the departments of state and defense, the US embassy in Moscow, and the intelligence community in analytical and operational roles. He served on the national intelligence council and the policy planning staff at State, and was executive secretary of three binational commissions with Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan. He retired in 2023 as a charter member of CIA’s senior analytic service. He holds a B.A. in Russian and Soviet Studies from Wesleyan University and an M.Phil.

Agents from the Department of Homeland Security (Trade Transparency Unit and Cybersecurity Unit) will be visiting the MIIS Campus on Monday and Tuesday (May 06 and May 07). There will be an opportunity to meet and talk with the visiting agents at a Brown-bag Information Session at 1200 Pacific Time on Tuesday, May 07. The event will be open to the MIIS Community.

Our graduating TESOL/TFL students will showcase their Applied Linguistics Capstone projects and share what they learned during their Practicum Capstone teaching. Family and friends are welcome!
