Come join staff from The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp to discuss our paid summer staff and year-round volunteer opportunities.

Hole in the Wall is a non-profit organization based in Connecticut that provides residential camp programming and regional outreach to children and families dealing with serious and chronic illnesses. Staff and volunteer opportunities are fun, fulfilling, and look great on a resume.

Simulated National Security Exercise at MIIS (Sept 4-6)

Are you interested in national security? Want a free trip to California to try your hand at a role play with grad students and real officials from the FBI or CIA? The Center on Terrorism, Extremism, and Counterterrorism (CTEC) at the Middlebury Institute for International Studies (MIIS) at Monterey received funding from the Fund for Innovation to bring Institute and College students together for a simulation involving real government and NGO staffers.

Self Defense Class By Rana Abdelhamid (Midd 15')

Rana Abdelhamid ’15, an internationally recognized human rights advocate with a black belt in Karate, returns to Middlebury where she earned her bachelor’s degree in international politics and economics. She then earned a master’s degree in Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School public. Currently Abdelhamid works for Google’s central brand team for Google Cloud. While a student, she founded the nonprofit Malikah, which is aimed at supporting women’s empowerment through self-defense, entrepreneurship, and organized trainings.

Reflection Friday Speaker Series

On selected Fridays each semester, the Center for Creativity, Innovation, and Social Entrepreneurship hosts reflective talks during which speakers discuss the question: “What matters to me, and why.” During these lunchtime talks, students and other members of the Middlebury community will reflect on their own ‘story of self’ and offer insights about the challenges of effecting social change.
