<i>Gaga,</i> Improvisation, and Rep Experiments

Offered in connection with Lida Winfield’s Advanced Improv Course, MCA Dance Theatre Led by Maree ReMalia and members of the Ubiquitous Cast. To warm up, participants will be guided through playful improvisational explorations intended to increase self awareness and build group connection. Facilitators will teach repertory material from The Ubiquitous Mass of Us that includes movement, sound, and text to be used for experimentation in improvisational scores.

The Solo Workshop

The Solo Workshop, in collaboration with the UVM Lane Series, presents its fifth evening of new works, continuing an exploration of what “solo” means to both artist and audience. To explore the collaborative, creative process, The Solo workshop brings together five University of Vermont artists and five Middlebury College artists to form pairs of choreographer-dancers and composer-musicians. Each twosome creates and performs a new piece, investigating the rich history and possibilities of the interaction of music and dance.

Taiko Workshop

The Japanese Club is hosting the legendary Stuart Patton of Burlington Taiko for a large Taiko workshop! Taiko, or large barrel drums, is a Japanese traditional drumming style, full of movement and amazing noise culminating in an unforgettable musical performance—and here’s your chance to try the art form out! Wear clothes easy to move in :)
