Matea Mills-Andruk ’18.5, presents the findings of her senior thesis produced in Dance and Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies. Through dance and spoken word, Like Making Someone Laugh flaunts the ways hope, passion, and laughter are crucial to movement for social change. This upbeat event demonstrates the feminist potential of communicating in ways that do not center rationality and linearity, while simultaneously refusing to position reason and emotion as opposites. Free

Led by Maree ReMalia—Middlebury’s former Mellon Interdisciplinary Choreographer—this Gaga/people class offers a framework for users to connect to their bodies and imaginations, experience physical sensations, improve flexibility and stamina, exercise agility and explosive power, and enjoy the pleasure of movement in a welcoming, accepting atmosphere. Gaga/people classes are open to people ages 16+, regardless of their background in dance or movement, and no previous dance experience is needed.
