Mikael Owunna Photo Exhibit, Davis Family Library Atrium, August 8-August 18. 

The Middlebury College School of French proudly presents an exhibition by esteemed alumnus, Mikael Owunna (2018), titled “Infinite Essence.”

The inception of “Infinite Essence” traces back to Owunna’s deep exploration of indigenous African knowledge systems. His goal was to craft a unique visual style that encapsulates the majestic cosmos, intricate symbolism, and the portrayal of Blackness as the divine, cosmic origin from which all existence blooms.

This classical music recital features gifted School of French student musicians performing on a variety of instruments and/or voice.  The concert will be under the direction of our new Music Director, Clémentine Dubost.  A reception in the CFA lower lobby will follow the concert.

Middlebury owns all 35 volumes of Denis Diderot’s Encyclopédie, a founding work of the Enlightenment. For the first time in recent memory, we’re displaying them all, in honor of the 250th anniversary of the final volume’s publication. With its 75,000 entries, 20 million words, and 2,569 richly detailed illustrated plates, the Encyclopedie aimed to “change the way people think” and encompass “all the knowledge scattered on the surface of the earth.”

Please join the School of French at the Middlebury Mahaney Arts Center (MAC) for their annual classical concert featuring amateur and professional musicians and directed by School music director, Clementine Dubost. A reception will be held for the artists and audience in the lower lobby following the performance.
