MIIS - Student Advocacy Council

The Student Advocacy Council (SAC) will hold monthly meetings to share updates and ideas on how we can advocate for fellow students and discuss any feedback we receive. A Zoom link is also provided so people can join remotely if needed.

Now that the finals are over, let’s sit back, relax, and play some board games at the library together.

Middlebirdy is going indoors for our last event of the semester. Put finals on pause for a couple hours and come stretch your wings with a game break! We’ll be playing the beautiful board game Wingspan, in which you cultivate a network of wildlife preserves to discover and attract the best birds - and maybe a couple rounds of Bird Bingo! Come play, relax, and nerd out about birds with us.

The January 2023 mass shooting of farm workers in Half Moon Bay near San Francisco brought to light intolerable conditions field laborers often still endure. United Farm Workers President Teresa Romero will discuss the hardships and exploitation agricultural workers face and how they are the result of fundamental injustice and indignity built into the system of farm labor in this state and nation dating back more than a century and a half.

The MIIS Student Council has planned a Spring Gala event for April 13th from 7 PM PT to 10 PM PT. The event is OFF-CAMPUS! and will be held at the Barns at Cooper Molera, a short walk from campus. Appetizers and desserts will be served, with vegan options available, and tickets include two alcoholic drinks. Nonalcoholic options are also available. Students are encouraged to dress formally, though no specific dress code exists.

I will host a townhall for the IEM program in a hybrid mode to include remote students in the event.
