The Path to an Apology: History, Racism, Local Government, and Community

Kim Ly Bui is a retired City of Monterey Executive (first Vietnamese-American Library Director in the country), member of Pacific Grove’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force, leadership coach and poet.
Her experiences as an Asian-American woman, municipal department head, city volunteer and author of Pacific Grove’s 2022 Apology to Chinese Village Community and Descendants provide a unique perspective on equity, diversity and inclusion work in local government.

TILM goes Ice-Skating by the Bay

In honor of the semester ending and the coming winter break, the TLM and TI program representatives invite TILM students and faculty to gather for some ice-skating at Ice-Skating by the Bay (https://www.iceskatingbythebay.com/). Admission is $15 and skate rental is $5. The first 15 people from TLM and first 15 people from TI will receive $10 off the price of admission. Join us for some winter-time fun!

TESOL/TFL Town Hall

The TESOL/TFL Town Hall will be a student-only informal gathering to discuss and provide feedback about the TESOL/TFL program to the program Representative, Isha Banks. We can discuss highlights, concerns, interests, and more regarding the program. Snacks and refreshments will be provided!

After the Town Hall meeting, we can all head to the location of the TESOL/TFL Holiday Potluck Party together!

TLM Townhall

TLM Townhall is a time for all TLM students to come together and discuss the program. This is an opportunity to give your program representative feedback so that we can maximize everyone’s experience at MIIS. The first hour will be devoted to a candid, student-only discussion of the program. We can discuss frustrations, areas of satisfaction, concerns, and what you want to see done more! The second hour will be a reception with food and drink provided.

Winter in Wonderland Fair is a unique opportunity to introduce local organizations to our new and returning students who call Monterey their home and enjoy a fun afternoon interacting with a diverse student body. Come join us for an afternoon of services and information from local Monterey businesses, organizations and food vendors!
