April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The Office of Student Services and the Monterey Country Rape Crisis Center are sponsoring a Denim Day Selfie Station to help create awareness about sexual assault. We ask everyone to wear DENIM on this day and to stop by the table at the Samson Center Patio between 11am-3pm to take a photo in support of survivors of sexual assault. Join us as Myanmar Parliament leader “Shwe Maung” comes to MIIS and speaks about the process of democratization Myanmar is experiencing and what it means for the Muslim community. As one of the very few Muslim parliament members, Mr. “Shwe Maung” will share his personal experience and first hand account of Myanmar’s transition into a more democratic state.

Cybersecurity, Deterrence and the Future of Cyber-Enabled Conflict

The Cyber Security Student Working Group and the MIIS Cyber Initiative are hosting a Speaker Series with guest speaker Chris Finan. He will draw on his experience from the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the National Security Council staff, DARPA and Silicon Valley to discuss the current state of federal cybersecurity, including key agency roles and responsibilities, authorities and policy challenges, examine the challenges of deterrence in cyberspace, and conclude with considerations for the future of cyber-enabled conflict.
