End your first week at Middlebury with Rabbi Danielle Stillman and students active in Hillel, with a home-cooked Shabbat dinner at the Jewish Center in the Freeman International Center (FIC).  We will bring in the Jewish day of rest with blessings over ritual wine and challah, followed by a great meal.  All students are welcome at this event, regardless of whether you have a Jewish background or not.

Orientation 2023 Mindfulness at Middlebury

No matter your background or experience, come meet the staff of the Scott Center for Spiritual and Religious Life (and some of our affiliates!) to explore ways to be intentional about mindfulness practices and meet other students who are interested, too. What is mindfulness and how is it different from meditation? What opportunities and resources exist across the college? How might you begin or maintain a practice that helps with life at school?

MiddView 2021 Fall Cupping with Iluminar Coffee and the Innovation Hub

Come to the Innovation Hub to sample coffee made by Daniel Gutierrez ’23. Daniel is the founder and owner of Iluminar Coffee, a small batch roaster that highlights its producers and supports community organizations. The coffee served will be made from beans roasted at Daniel’s session with students at the Old Stone Mill the previous day. While you’re there, meet the staff at the Innovation Hub and have a coffee chat about different programs offered such as: Oratory Now, MiddCORE, Social Entrepreneurship advising, programs in Creativity and Innovation, Global Health, and more.

MiddView 2021 Fall Learn about upcycling and sustainable fashion with the Innovation Hub

Come join Molly Grazioso ’23.5 as she introduces the Studio, a student-run creative space for upcycling and sustainable fashion projects that she created as part of her Social Entrepreneurship Fellowship at the Innovation Hub. Molly will share some plans and projects for the space, showing you what’s possible with the latest addition to Middlebury’s arts and sustainability scene.

MiddView 2021 Fall Roasting with Iluminar Coffee at the Old Stone Mill

Daniel Gutierrez ‘23, founder of Iluminar Coffee coffee company, will be running a coffee bean roasting workshop for first-years as part of MiddView orientation. This will happen at the Old Stone Mill (82 Weybridge St.) where he has been doing his roasting with support from the Innovation Hub. He will use his coffee roasting equipment and/or one of the kitchens in the Old Stone Mill. He will also be describing his story and process to first-years as well as the Innovation Hub resources he used.
