Do you like sketch comedy? Have you ever wanted to write some yourself? In this workshop, participants will be able to workshop sketch ideas, receive feedback on original sketches, learn sketch terminology and writing tactics, and write new sketches with members of Middlebury Discount Comedy, Middlebury’s only sketch comedy group on campus. No previous experience in sketch/comedy writing is required. Come to as many sessions as your able to and hang out with us while working on your sketch writing skills!

Everyone knows that the U.S., and much of the world, is more politically divided than ever before. With the inauguration of President-Elect Joe Biden in January, we will likely see these tensions arise and be renewed this winter. This workshop will give us an opportunity to learn skills of listening and learning about different points of view and beliefs.

This winter term, CCE AmeriCorps VISTAs Jilly dos Santos and Tenzin Dorjee along with AFC AmeriCorps VISTA Lizzie Friesen invite you to join a 4-week-long, fully funded book club on A More Beautiful and Terrible History: The Uses and Misuses of Civil Rights History as part of the Center for Community Engagement’s participation in AmeriCorps’ MLK Day of Service. We chose this book because it focuses on the dangerous distortions of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s and other civil rights leaders’ legacies and it provides a framework for understanding the complex history of racial justice in America.

This interactive workshop is offered for first-time and novice gardeners. In the registration link participants can submit your questions and goals for the workshop in advance, and then we’ll build our time together around your input. We can include topics like: How do I get started? What supplies do I need (and how can I make/find/upcycle them)? How do I find seeds and supplies? What can I grow in my windowsill? All questions are welcome!
This workshop is synchronous and is a single event lasting 1-1/2hours.

Instructor will be Megan Brakeley from the Organic Garden.
