Shivapriya Nair (she/her) was deeply influenced by her courses in Medical Anthropology and Global Health in her first year of college, which revealed the powerful impact of historical events, culture, social networks, built environments, and access to resources on global disparities in well-being and prosperity. Her BA in Environmental Studies and Geography further expanded her understanding of how the flow of ideas, resources, and migration shape both the physical environment and the experiences of communities. As a student, she dedicated much of her time to community-based learning, engaging with the Centre for Community Engagement, the New Perennials Project, and completing her senior capstone with the Vermont Futures Project. Now, as the Climate Action Coordinator with the Environmental Affairs team, she is honored to support the development of innovative, intersectional ideas from the Climate Action Fellows and the broader Middlebury community. Drawing on her experience in conflict mediation, multicultural engagement, and geography, she is committed to advancing justice-centered climate action initiatives at Middlebury College.
