Sophie brings a deeply interdisciplinary approach to environmentalism, drawing connections between socio-economic realities, media and information access, civic participation, and trust. Her research on agricultural reform, just energy transitions, and environmental/public health examines how policy decisions, community-institution relationships, and public narratives shape environmental outcomes.

A recent graduate of the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, Sophie earned her M.A. in Environmental Policy and Management, during which she was actively involved with the Conflict Transformation Collaborative, conducted International Education research with Dr. David Wick, and organized community-wide events.

Outside of work, Sophie loves reading, taking long walks, and being creative — whether it’s cooking, baking, drawing, or practicing another new visual art skill. She’s excited to join the Climate Action Program team, as she hopes to advance institutional change while supporting students and community-institution initiatives at Middlebury.
