Jon Reidel

Jon Reidel is a member of the public affairs team and is responsible for promoting Middlebury and its entities to local, regional, national, and international media. He works closely with colleagues in the Office of Communications and Marketing to reach various audiences, including the general public, faculty, staff, students, parents, and alumni in support of the College’s mission and strategic initiatives. He is also a member of the crisis communications team.

Prior to his arrival at Middlebury, he served as director of communications and programs for an educational nonprofit dedicated to helping underserved students become college and career ready. He previously served as a senior communications specialist at the University of Vermont, where he received a doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies and a master’s degree in public administration. Following his graduation from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and English, he spent 10 years as a newspaper reporter covering education, government, sports, and business, and as editor and publisher of a national basketball recruiting publication.
