My name is Leila McVeigh and my pronouns are she/her. I was born and raised in north of here, in New York State. I identify as mixed race, half French Canadian and half Filipina.

I have worked as a therapist with adolescents and young adults in school and mental health settings. I earned my BA in Psychology from Middlebury in 1998 and my Master’s in Clinical Psychology from St. Michael’s College in 2003. My approach to counseling is strength based, learning first what skills and wisdom a student already possesses so we can partner in creating something that works. I have training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, which guides my practice. One reason I came to Middlebury was to go deeper into culturally informed care. I encourage an integrative perspective that balances attention to mind, body, and (for those who wish) spirit.

I am married and I have one child, who just started college. While doing chores I like to put in a podcast to get a bit of news, culture, social justice, science and movie recommendations. I live in Middlebury in a lovely spot well suited to my homebody tendencies. I occasionally dabble in choral singing and community theatre.
