Students, Faculty, Staff, Fall 2021

Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,

I’m writing with an update on some important Dining Services changes for this fall. As we face continued challenges from the pandemic, including a nationwide labor shortage, our top priority continues to be excellence in service to our students.

More Student Dining Options

Dining Services will open all three dining halls—Proctor, Ross, and Atwater—as well as the Grille for students only. Atwater Dining Hall will open on September 13 for lunch and dinner Monday to Friday with no breakfast or weekend meals. Proctor and Ross will both be open seven days a week starting Monday, September 6.

Please note that after Monday, September 6, these dining options will not be available to faculty, staff, or visitors until we are able to hire additional staff.

Similar to last year, the Grille will operate as a board dining hall for lunch from Monday to Friday, students will be able to use a meal swipe or declining balance, and we encourage them to do so. The Grille will not be open for late night operations at this time, though we plan to resume those services as we increase our staffing levels. In the meantime, MiddExpress will be open later in the evening and will offer some Grille favorites.

Catering and Events

Catering services will be limited to serving the campus on a first come, first served basis. Space availability and resource limitations will also frame what events can be scheduled and organized. Please be prepared to work with the Department of Event Management to re-envision your event to minimize impact to resources and work through space limitations.

If Dining Services cannot serve your particular event, you are welcome to use an outside caterer. More information about non-College catering options can be found here

We appreciate your patience as we all adapt to changes on campus, and we look forward to a great fall semester. For more information please visit the Dining Services web page.

Thanks,

Dan Detora
