For more than 25 years Kim Ehritt's job at Middlebury has been to manage a vast array of information and track the College's alumni. Now Director of Constituent Records, having joined College Advancement in 1982, she has so far survived numerous paper cuts and the introduction of the self-correcting typewriter, fax machines, desktop computers, the internet, email, scanners and 4 different database systems, as well as a 10-fold increase in the number of active alumni.

She routinely answers a broad range of questions:  how many students have attended the College since 1802 (40,000 and counting); who is the oldest living alum; are there any alumni in Mongolia; how many alumni have married another alum; how many alumni have been Vermont governors (7); did my great-grandfather/grandmother attend Middlebury; what is the most common alumni profession; which U.S. state has the fewest alumni (N. Dakota); and which Middlebury family has sent the most siblings to the College.

Outside of work, this graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College (one of Middlebury's hockey rivals) shuns computers, telephones, files and data. In her free time she attends auctions and collects fids, darners and niddy noddies.
