Middlebury Faculty, Staff and Students,

Please be aware, the NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE has issued a HEAT ADVISORY for the area from noon Friday, July 19, 2019 to 8pm Saturday, July 20, 2019.  Remember to stay hydrated and limit your activities outdoors if possible.  Below are some suggestions to follow during this advisory.  If you feel that you or someone is in need of medical attention please dial 911.

On Saturday, 7/20/19 heat index values will increase to 105 with temperatures in the mid 90s.  With extreme heat, there is the risk of heat exhaustion, which is the precursor to heatstroke, and is a direct result of the body overheating.

To avoid heat exhaustion:

  • Loose fitting clothing / light weight clothing
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Avoid staying out in the sun and avoid getting sunburn
  • Limit outside exercise or activities particularly in the hottest parts of the day
  • Do not leave anyone in a parked car
