Federal Direct Loans - Undergraduates

Middlebury College participates exclusively in the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan program, in which borrowers obtain loan funds directly from the U.S. Government. Repayment on the Federal Direct loan begins six months after the student graduates or leaves college. If you are an undergraduate applying for financial aid, the Federal Direct loan you are eligible to borrow will appear on Banner Web. If you are an undergraduate and did not apply for financial aid, please complete the Federal Direct Loan request form below.

Junior$5,500
Senior$5,500

All undergraduates are eligible to borrow an additional $2,000 unsubsidized loan.

Required when applying for a Direct loan:

  • FAFSA form.
  • A Consortium Agreement if the student will be studying abroad at a Non-Middlebury program.
  • First-time Federal Direct borrowers must complete Entrance Counseling and a Loan Agreement/MPN on studentaid.gov.

If you do not receive Financial Aid and wish to apply for a Federal Direct Loan, please complete the FAFSA.
