Federal Direct Stafford Loans - Undergraduates
Middlebury College participates exclusively in the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan program, in which borrowers obtain loan funds directly from the U.S. Government. Repayment on the Federal Direct Stafford loan begins six months after the student graduates or leaves college. If you are an undergraduate applying for financial aid, the Federal Direct Stafford loan you are eligible to borrow will appear on Banner Web.

Maximum Undergraduate Stafford Eligibility

| Sophomore | $4,500 |
| Junior | $5,500 |
| Senior | $5,500 |
All undergraduates are eligible to borrow an additional $2,000 unsubsidized loan.

Required when applying for a Stafford loan
- 2012-2013 FAFSA form.
- The FAFSA form by itself is NOT an application for a Federal loan.
- A Consortium Agreement if the student will be studying abroad at a Non-Middlebury program.
If you are borrowing a Federal Direct Stafford loan for the first time, you must also complete an E-MPN and Entrance Counseling.
