COVID-19 Updates: Fall Semester

Office of Sustainability Integration

The Office of Sustainability Integration develops, implements and supports sustainability initiatives at Middlebury College. We strive for efforts that simultaneously achieve environmental, social, and economic goals throughout the campus community and college operations. Sustainability efforts result in greater conservation and use of renewable energy, more responsible use of local resources and food, reduced pollution and less exposure to harmful chemicals, greater economic efficiencies and increased community pride and morale.

We work with students and faculty in many different ways, from supporting independent research projects to working alongside administrators and facilities staff in the creation of green campus infrastructure such as the biomass gasification plant.

We are also responsible for conducting an annual greenhouse gas inventory, which tracks Middlebury College’s carbon dioxide emissions and helps in our effort to be carbon neutral by 2016.

Our efforts require numerous partnerships with other Middlebury departments and groups including the Dean of Environmental Affairs, facilities services, and athletics.
