Announcements, News

Dear Faculty and Staff:

We are writing to share important information about upcoming measles vaccine clinics on the Middlebury College campus.

In a previous message, we announced that faculty and staff living and/or working on campus this summer must obtain valid proof of immunity before the start of summer programs. This is in order to avoid exclusion from work or school in the event of a measles outbreak on a Middlebury campus. Faculty and staff returning to campus in the fall will be required to provide proof by August 30.

Employees can receive the MMR (measles-mumps-rubella) vaccination at clinics at the College on the following dates and times:

  • Wednesday, June 26: 1-3 p.m., LaForce 121 Seminar Room
  • Thursday, June 27: 1-3 p.m., LaForce 121 Seminar Room
  • Monday, July 1: 9-11 a.m., Mitchell Green Lounge

Faculty and staff can schedule an appointment for any of the dates listed above here. Walk-ins are permitted, although given the limited vaccine supply we strongly encourage appointments.

Addison County Home Health and Hospice also is offering a drop-in clinic on Tuesday, July 2, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at their offices at 254 Ethan Allen Highway in New Haven.

Updated information for meeting the measles immunity requirement

The following are options for meeting documented measles immunity requirements to avoid exclusion during a measles outbreak:

  • Proof of birth prior to 1957.
  • Valid documented evidence of one or two doses of live MMR vaccine (two if high risk category).
  • Valid documented lab result showing immunity (from vaccine or prior infection) from a healthcare provider. Employees should:
    • Request a test from their primary care provider. In-network visits should be completely covered.
    • Visit a local urgent care center and request a test.
    • Seek a Cigna telehealth lab order.
      • GMHEC notes that Cigna telehealth should be able to order a measles IgG test.
      • This may have a small out-of-pocket fee for the telehealth visit.
    • Find tests available online without a doctor’s visit. (The cost is $48 via the Quest lab in Rutland).
      • This option may not be available nearby and may require travel to a specific lab. It also may not be reimbursed by insurance.
    •  Note that the Cigna CPT code for the measles titer test is CPT 86765 Antibody: rubeola.
  •  Receive MMR vaccine(s) at the following locations:
    • Primary care physician’s office
    • Local pharmacies
    • An on-campus clinic for Middlebury employees.

Submitting Proof

Faculty and staff can submit and/or upload measles proof of immunity using the following secure online form. Middlebury undergraduate students who have already provided proof of immunity to the Center for Health and Wellness do not need to complete the form.

Visit our measles information website for answers to frequently asked questions about our measles requirements. For questions or support regarding any of the above, please contact Middlebury’s Immunization Verification Team at immunizationverification@middlebury.edu.
