Flooding Resources and Continued Recovery
Dear Faculty and Staff,
We hope this finds you and yours safe at this time of weather emergencies in our region as we continue to monitor flooding and other events that are impacting our home state and surrounding areas.
This past weekend and into this week, flood warnings are in effect for Otter Creek and the Middlebury River, and Ripton is contending with loss of property, erosion, and other damage. At the same time, many parts of our state are working on recovery efforts even as they face additional flooding risks.
As a reminder, you should regularly check local and National Weather Service updates before attempting travel and be in touch with your supervisor if you need to adjust your work schedule.

Volunteer Opportunities
For those who would like to volunteer to help flood relief efforts, several community organizations are matching volunteers with needed work. Following are a few options, each of which requires filling out a form to sign up:
Release Time for Volunteer Work
To support these and other relief efforts, Middlebury encourages anyone who is interested in volunteering to use Middlebury Release Time up to one day of regular work. This time will be offered between now and September 30.
Middlebury Release Time allows staff to request permission from their managers to participate in a specific event or initiative. Via this email we are requesting that managers accommodate such requests, as long as essential services are not negatively affected. For employees who volunteer, participation that overlaps the employees’ regularly scheduled work hours will be considered regular paid time; participation that falls outside of normal work schedules will be unpaid.
