Middlebury Admits Class of 2029 and 2029.5
This year, Middlebury received a total of 11,831 applications for the Class of 2029 and 2029.5 with a record high number of international students in the pool. Acceptances were sent to 13.9 percent of the applicant pool.
In March, 1,136 students were admitted through the Regular Decision round. They joined 519 students admitted through the Early Decision 1 and Early Decision 2 rounds, which included scholars identified through college access partnerships with QuestBridge, Posse, and College Track.
“The Admissions Committee reviewed every submitted application from a highly qualified group of students who have demonstrated their rigorous academic preparation, personal fortitude, and deep curiosity for ideas. They are ready to join Middlebury’s dynamic global community,” said Nicole Curvin, vice president for strategic enrollment and dean of admissions.
Throughout the month of April, Middlebury Admissions welcomed hundreds of admitted students and their families for Preview Days programming including class and dining hall visits, tours, and special programming that highlighted distinctive campus experiences. Admitted students met with faculty, staff and students to experience all that Middlebury offers. There were also virtual events providing a flexible way for admitted students to connect with each other and to the rest of the Middlebury community.
Middlebury is in the fifth year of a test optional pilot policy, with 44 percent of those admitted this year opting to forgo sharing test scores, demonstrating their potential in other ways. In June 2023, the college extended the test optional pilot program for three years (up to the entering Class of 2030). The college collects standardized testing information upon enrollment and continues to review and evaluate student progress throughout their time at Middlebury.
