Budget Update: Upcoming Meetings and Resources
Dear Faculty and Staff,
We write with a reminder that we will hold a Hybrid Meeting for Staff and Faculty, on Wednesday, May 14, 2 p.m. ET in Wilson Hall and on Zoom. This meeting will focus on updates from the board meetings, including budget discussions and ongoing work.
Faculty and staff may join in person or sign up for a Zoom link to participate. We will provide the latest information at the upcoming meeting. Please note that Zoom participants will be able to listen but will not be able to interact with the speakers during the meeting (a similar approach to Vermont faculty meetings). As a reminder, all previous budget updates are posted on the Middlebury website.
We also will be scheduling a town hall meeting at the Middlebury Institute after MIIS Commencement and will give an update on the Board meeting and the business plan goals at that time.
Below are some additional resources and updates:
Voluntary Staff Retirement Program
Employees who expressed interest and are eligible for the voluntary staff retirement program received individualized agreements during the past week. We encourage any applicants to contact the Human Resources team with questions. We will be sharing information with those who have received agreements and will offer additional information sessions. Final signed agreements need to be returned within 45 days. In mid-May, we’ll share information with supervisors about vacancies created by voluntary retirements and how those open positions will be considered. Final information about departures and retirement dates will be shared with supervisors in June.
TIAA Representative on Campus
A TIAA representative will be on campus every Wednesday in May and June to consult on retirement contributions and planning. All sessions will be at the Office of Human Resources at 75 Shannon Street. You can sign up for in-person or virtual consultations here (TIAA login required).
Health Benefits Discussion
We will continue our discussions with the Faculty and Staff Resources Committees about options and approaches to health plans through the spring and into summer and will provide updates once that work is complete.
Sharing Ideas
Faculty and staff are welcome to submit additional Budget or Structural Change Ideas. We continue to review these submissions and evaluate feasibility of these ideas.
