Preparing for an interview, whether for a summer internship, a first job, or graduate school, can be one of the most stressful parts of the career search. To help students feel more confident and prepared, the Center for Careers and Internships (CCI) has launched Big Interview, a new online interview training and practice platform now available to all Middlebury College students.

Big Interview combines expert-led instruction with interactive, AI-powered practice tools, allowing students to learn interview strategies and then immediately put them into practice. The platform was created in partnership with Pamela Skillings, a nationally recognized interview coach who has helped job seekers prepare for interviews at organizations ranging from Google and Goldman Sachs to the United Nations.

A Practice Space for Every Stage and Path

Big Interview is designed to meet students wherever they are in their career journey. Whether preparing for a first internship, a competitive consulting interview, or a graduate school admissions conversation, students can choose from hundreds of interview practice sets tailored by industry, experience level, and role.

Features include:

  • Mock interview practice with video recording, allowing students to review their responses and body language
  • AI-powered feedback that highlights strengths and areas for improvement
  • Video and written lessons covering the full interview process, from “Tell me about yourself” to behavioral and competency-based questions
  • Interview playbooks for new graduates, career changers, graduate school applicants, and more

Students can practice at their own pace, on their own schedule, and return to the platform as often as needed throughout the year.

Building Confidence Through Preparation

For many students, confidence comes from practice. One Big Interview user shared that the platform helped them feel more prepared and focused heading into an important interview:

Big Interview really supported me in preparing for my interview by helping me create a roadmap before the big day and structuring my answers. On the day of the interview, I felt more confident and performed much better.

By offering a private, low-stakes environment to practice, Big Interview allows students to experiment, improve, and build confidence before facing real interview situations.

Available to All Middlebury Students

Big Interview is free for all Middlebury students and can be accessed at any time. The platform is used by more than 500 colleges and universities nationwide and is now part of Middlebury’s suite of career resources designed to support students’ academic and professional goals.

Students are encouraged to explore Big Interview independently or alongside advising appointments, workshops, and employer programs offered through CCI.
