Explore Careers in History: Connect with Alumni at Middlebury's History Field Guide!
This week, Middlebury College’s Center for Careers and Internships (CCI), in collaboration with the History Department, is hosting the annual History Field Guide, an event designed to showcase the diverse career paths Middlebury alumni have taken with a history major. Set to take place on November 7-8, this event is a valuable opportunity for students interested in history to learn directly from alumni who have turned their liberal arts degrees into fulfilling careers.
Event Highlights
On Thursday, November 7, the event kicks off with a Career Panel from 4:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. in the Franklin Environmental Center at Hillcrest, room 103. Attendees will hear alumni share about their professional journeys, experiences, and tips for making the most of a history major. To attend, students are encouraged to sign up via Handshake.
The Field Guide continues on Friday, November 8, with One-on-One Career Chats from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Davis Family Library and Kitchel House (CCI). Students will have the chance to engage in more personalized discussions with alumni, getting tailored advice on potential career paths and networking opportunities. Interested students can sign up for these individual chats through alumni profiles listed on the CCI website.

Explore the History Major
For students considering a major or minor in history, CCI has created a History Major/Minor Guide detailing major learning goals, reasons to choose history, internship opportunities, and career pathways. The full guide is available on the CCI website, and students can log into Midd2Midd to connect with even more alumni who majored in history.
Don’t miss this chance to explore the career possibilities a history degree can offer. Whether you’re committed to history or just curious, the History Field Guide promises inspiration and networking opportunities for all attendees.
