As Assistant Director for Community-Based Learning, Diane Munroe joins the CCE staff in supporting the development of community-connected teaching, learning, and research opportunities across the disciplines. Diane will participate in the design and leadership of community-based learning aligned with the broader institutional mission. Diane continues to support the Environmental Studies Program Community-Engaged Practicum (ENVS 401) and other ENVS courses, and her connection with CCE will help to provide greater student access to community-based learning. Diane has served as the ENVS coordinator for community-based teaching, learning, and research since 2001. Coming to Middlebury from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (MS Hyrdrogeology ‘98, MS Water Resources Management ‘99) and work with the UW-Extension as a watershed educator, this position has allowed her to continue the rewarding work of fostering collaborations between colleges & universities and community organizations. Diane is an avid runner-also serving as the faculty affiliate for the women’s cross-country team-and enjoys hiking, backpacking, and cooking.
