My name is Nick and I work in Middlebury’s Center for Health and Wellness as a Senior Counselor and the Outreach Coordinator.  I identify as a non-binary, queer, disabled white person and grew up in rural Rutland County, Vermont; have lived in Saratoga Springs New York, Seattle Washington and Montreal Quebec.  I currently live in Burlington Vermont with two cats and my partner.

I have been working as a social worker with a diversity of people in a variety of settings since 2001. Since receiving my master’s degree in social work in 2006 from McGill University in Montreal I have practiced in community mental health, hospice care, and mental health peer to peer support environments while working with people experiencing homelessness, coming out of incarceration, at end of life, as well as with people experiencing mental health crisis and suicidality.

I work to bring a compassionate, trauma sensitive, sex-positive, anti-racist, strengths-based, person-centered perspective and am informed by the Intentional Peer Support approach, Buddhist and liberation psychology, as well as feminist, anti-oppressive, and dialogical theories.

Things that currently bring me joy include hanging out with cats, fermenting stuff, gardening, making music, traveling with my partner, and wandering in the woods.
