My name is Deidre Murphy, and I use she/her pronouns. I am currently in my final year at the Smith College School for Social Work. Before coming to Middlebury, I worked in a variety of academic and clinical settings supporting young adults in moments of transition, stress, and self-discovery.
My approach to therapy is grounded in relationship and curiosity. I draw from psychodynamic, mindfulness, and attachment-based perspectives to help students explore patterns in their relationships, strengthen self-understanding, and navigate challenges with greater self-compassion. I’m particularly interested in how past experiences shape our present and how we can develop new ways of relating to ourselves and others.
As a queer, neurodivergent therapist, I value working with students of many identities, backgrounds, and ways of relating to the world. I aim to create a space where you can feel seen, supported, and free to explore whatever feels most important to you. Outside of work, I enjoy being outdoors, making art, cooking, and dancing.
