Dean of Students Update
| by Derek Doucet and AJ Place
Dear Students,
We are writing today with reminders about the SafeColleges departure course, course schedule information, winter break food resources, residence hall closing procedures, and bathroom services for guests picking up students.
End of Semester Course Reminder
All enrolled students (both in-person learners and remote learners) are required to complete the End of Semester online course through SafeColleges by 5 p.m. EST on Friday, November 20. The course contains essential information about remote finals, accessing Middlebury-based and community resources after November 20, and skill refreshers on setting boundaries and continuing to reduce your exposure to COVID-19.
More information about a safe departure from campus is available here.
No Change in Course Schedule for the Last Week of Classes
During the all-remote final week of classes, the course schedule will remain the same as it is now (Eastern Standard Time). Please make note of what this means for your local time, depending on the time zone where you’ll be.
Thanksgiving and Winter Break Food Resources
If you are concerned about accessing enough food in the upcoming long break from campus, there are many resources that can help. This guide provides information about food resources in every U.S. state and in several major cities. It has emergency food options such as food pantries and food delivery, information about 211 services in every state, and several guides for college students with shopping lists, inexpensive cooking utensil options, and other useful resources. While this was designed with the upcoming break in mind, this guide can be used all year for all students, whether you are living on or off campus, studying remotely, or on leave. If you have any questions, comments, or would like to get involved in addressing student food insecurity with the Middlebury Campus Hunger Project, please fill out this form.
Residence Hall Closing Procedures
As you prepare to depart campus, please remember to review the checklist.
Bathrooms during Pickup
Portable bathrooms, including ADA accessible facilities, will be available for guests picking up students on Hepburn Road and Château Road.
I wish you safe and successful final days on campus, and a restorative holiday break.
Sincerely,
Derek Doucet
