    Knoll Garden Volunteer Hours **BIPOC Affinity Space

    **Please note, MONDAY sessions are held as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and other people of color) affinity space, facilitated by BIPOC student interns and staff.
    These Volunteer Hours are open to BIPOC Middlebury students. The Knoll serves as a site to explore topics of connection, resilience, and regeneration. The garden has been almost entirely powered by volunteers and interns for 19 years, and we are grateful you are here.

    Advancing Climate Solutions through Venture Capital - the vital role of early-stage investment in meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement

    Peter Hirsch ‘12, Head of Sustainability at 2150, a climate tech-oriented venture capital firm in London, will return to campus for a conversation moderated by students Kavina Amin ‘24 (Economics and History) and Gianna Palli ‘23.5 (Art History and Economics).

  • Is Capitalism a Religion? Labor, Loss, and the Rise of “Ethical” Free Markets

    Fair trade, microfinance, impact investing, social entrepreneurship, decolonized philanthropy: as the crisis of neoliberal order has multiplied in recent decades, so too have projects to represent global capitalism as a vehicle for feminist, anti-racist, and anti-colonial solidarities. What is the history of these projects? Whose interests do they serve? And, for critics of racialized economic violence and labor expropriation, how should we relate to shiny promises that “humanitarian” capitalism might still be achieved?

  • J Club Weekly Meeting

    J Club highlights aspects of traditional, pop, artistic, linguistic, and literary Japanese culture and brings them to campus. We host food events, screenings, celebrations like Harumatsuri (the Spring Festival), workshops on topics like taiko and tea ceremonies. We also sometimes attend events in the surrounding area. Everyone is welcome regardless of experience with Japanese language or culture. Stop by our weekly meetings or contact our email to cook, watch anime, enjoy Japanese music, and more with us!

    In this interactive panel discussion Associate Professor Christal Brown, Assistant Professor Lida Winfield, and Assistant Professor Laurel Jenkins of the Dance Department join Assistant Professor of Theatre, Olga Sanchez Saltveit, and Director of Beyond the Page, Craig Maravich to explore their work engages inclusion, antiracism, social justice, and freedom. We will hear from the panelist and then be invited into some movement and reflection.

    Students interested in applying for an Investor Relations Analyst position within the alternative credit industry are encouraged to attend this information session.
