FOR FACULTY:
This three-day symposium will kick off a new series called Writing in the Changing Academy, inviting our campus community to talk about writing both within and beyond traditional academic norms. Our symposium begins with a talk by Victor Villanueva, Regents Professor and Director of the Writing Program at Washington State University and author of the award-winning book: “Bootstraps, From an American Academic of Color, Rhetorics of the Americas.” On the second day, Julianna Ávila, Assistant Professor of English at the University of North Carolina, author of “Moving Critical Literacies Forward: A New Look at Praxis Across Contexts,” will talk about academic, critical and digital literacies. The symposium will host an array of conversations about writing and the teaching of writing.
