First-Gen Fall Excursion

On October 17th, the Anderson Freeman Resouce Center invites first-generation students, faculty, and staff to join us at the Happy Valley Orchard to pick apples and enjoy the fall weather. The AFC will provide transportation to the orchard for 26 students. To participate, students must submit their contact information via a Google Form sent out by the AFC email account.

Students will depart the AFC at 9:45 a.m. and will return at 12:15 p.m.

Vermont's S.148: An act relating to environmental justice in Vermont

Please join us for a virtual panel discussion to raise awareness of and support for Vermont’s S.148: An act relating to environmental justice in Vermont. The bill seeks to establish an environmental justice policy for the State of Vermont and would require state agencies to incorporate environmental justice into their work. The bill will be discussed in this spring’s upcoming legislative session.

Martin H. Freeman Lecture Series

As part of the 2020-2021 Martin H. Freeman Lecture Series, Professor Pablo Sobrado, Ph.D., Virginia Tech, will give a virtual guest lecture titled “Targeting Novel Flavin-dependent Enzymes for the treatment of Fungal and Bacterial Infections.” Other events with Prof. Sobrado will be happening from 11:45 to 3:30 PM. Iron is an essential nutrient for microbial grown as it is required for a large heme-dependent
and non-heme enzymatic reactions. Microbes acquire iron from their environment by heme
assimilation, reductive iron transport, and by using iron-binding molecules known as
