As a lighthearted way of marking Halloween, Queers and Allies at MIIS would like to invite you to stop by the Samson Patio to pick up a sexual wellness “goodie bag” with candy, supplies, and information on where to seek sexual health services in Monterey County.

While too much emphasis is placed on the private sexual activity of LGBTQ individuals, public health necessity has compelled advocacy within our community around issues of sexual wellness. “Tricks and Treats” takes the “BOO!” out of taboo!

TEDTalk Tuesdays are a monthly hour-long lunchtime gathering in which we watch 2-3 TEDTalks and/or webinars from Out&Equal Workplace Advocates and discuss the our thoughts on the content and implications for each of us.

QAAAM x MIRA Film Screening + Q&A: "Forbidden: Undocumented and Queer in Rural America"

In an effort to explore the intersection of undocumented status and queer identity, Queers and Allies at MIIS (QAAAM), in partnership with the MIIS Immigrants Rights Alliance (MIRA) will be screening “Forbidden: Undocumented and Queer in Rural America”.

This feature length documentary follows the journey of an inspiring young man whose story is exceptional, although not unique. The film chronicles Moises Serrano’s work as an activist for his community, all while trying to forge a path for his own future.

Feeling burnt out and in need of distraction half way through the semester!? Enter QAAAM Gayme Night! Queers and Allies at MIIS invites you to an evening of food, beverage, boardgames, card games, role-playing games, and good company.

QAAAM seeks to create inclusive events for the LGBTQIA community on the MIIS campus. Our events need not include alcoholic, academic, or activist component to draw a crowd. In the midst of midterms, this is an ideal way to re-center yourself before tackling the next challenge!

QAAAM Film Screening: "Room to Grow"

In an effort to explore queer identity and issues impacting the LGBTQ community, Queers and Allies at MIIS (QAAAM) will be screening the documentary-series “Room to Grow” to mark National Coming Out Week.

This series, screened consecutively, follows 6 LGBTQ youth as they embrace their identities and attempt to integrate that understanding of their most authentic self-with the world around them.
