The Performing Arts Series collaborates with the Bach Festival again this season—this time with a keyboard performance. Organist Nathan Laube treats audiences to a Bach program that celebrates Mead Chapel’s 45-year-old Gress-Miles organ. The Oberlin Review may have said it best: “The organ is indeed the king of instruments and Mr. Laube one of its supreme players.” Laube’s brilliant playing and gracious demeanor have thrilled audiences and presenters across the United States and in Europe. He offers a pre-concert lecture at 2:15 PM.
This year’s program will feature the return of guest conductor Keith McCutchen. Director of the Hayes School of Music Gospel Choir and Jazz Vocal Ensemble, Mr. McCutchen will conduct a community choir of students and townspeople and lead a jazz combo. Members of Oratory Now will deliver speeches on Chicago, today and 50 years ago, featuring King’s 1966 Soldier Field address. With movement by Christal Brown. Sponsored by the Department of Music and Oratory Now. Free.
Come celebrate a quarter-century of the Bobolinks, Middlebury’s oldest co-ed a cappella group! You’ll be hearing Bobolinks classics as well as alum faves. The founders of the group and many original soloists are returning to campus for what is sure to be a fun and exciting evening of a cappella — and a trip down memory lane.
