Beginning Ballet

Ballet returns to the dance department this fall. Classical ballet technique in traditional ballet class structure. No point shoes, please. Each session is open to a maximum of 20 participants.  PE credit is available for attendance at 8 classes. Previous dance experience in any form is recommended. Sign up at go/bballet22. Join Burlington Taiko Founder and Artistic Director Stuart Paton for an exciting workshop designed to invigorate body and spirit, bridge international cultures, and rebuild the sense of community that was diminished during the pandemic. Since 1987, Burlington Taiko has been mesmerizing audiences with the powerful, spellbinding and propulsive sounds of the Taiko drums. Burlington Taiko Group estimates it has introduced over half a million people to the power of Taiko via performances from the Boston Marathon toBurlington’s First Night to the Black Ships Festival in Newport, RI, and more.

Clifford Symposium Follow up discussion: Same But Different

Same But Different is a dance-theater performance created and performed by Christal Brown and Lida Winfield. The scholar-artists explore their similarities and differences in a cultural commentary on race, age, and gender. The performance is a reflection of their lived values, artistic practice and communal existence. The artists will dive deeper into the performance for a meaningful discussion.

Assistant Professor of Dance Laurel Jenkins and her co-creators Jesse Fleming and Lewis Pesacov present a new mixed-reality performance experience where movement instantly becomes music, and emerging technology allows dancers to create an immersive journey of sound, light, and visual media in real time. Live dancers with motion capture technology and simultaneous animation create The Wilds before your eyes. Part mythology, part utopian vision, The Wilds echoes patterns of nature from the subatomic to the cosmological to reveal the interconnectedness of all beings.
