Pizza and Board Games for Faculty and Staff

Staff and faculty are invited to join SAT and librarian Joelle Mellon at the MIIS Library for pizza and board games on Thursday, May 2, from 4-7pm (feel free to come and go as it works with your schedule). Available games include Taboo, Scattergories, Scrabble, Apples to Apples, Mahjong, and more. Joelle will also be providing a “how-to-play” session of Dominion, if you’re interested in learning a game that is popular with MIIS students.

Earth Week Game Night

Build community by playing environmentally themed games! Student volunteers and library staff members will be offering “learn to play” sessions of Cascadia, a tabletop game about pairing wildlife with appropriate habitats and Daybreak, a cooperative game in which everyone works together to stop climate change and collectively wins (or loses!). Other nature/Earth related games will also be available to play and check out at the end of the session.

Learn to Play Iki: A Game of Edo Artisans

Live an entire year in 17th-19th century Tokyo and try to become the best “Child of Edo,” by encouraging the city’s well-being and prosperity. Hire characters with various skills, put them to work in Nihonbashi (the commercial center), and increase their experience until they retire. Choose among artisans, street vendors, shopkeepers to create an authentic Edo era marketplace. Win by embodying “IKI,” — otherwise known as the ideal way of life in historic Tokyo.
