This workshop will focus on post-completion Optional Practical Training for F-1 students graduating in December 2017. Topics include: eligibility requirements, the application process, and how to maintain F-1 status while on OPT. Contact Kelly O’Connell with questions about this workshop.

This workshop will provide information about Optional Practical Training (OPT) for graduating F-1 students. We will talk about the application process, application timeline, how to maintain status while on OPT, and commonly asked questions. If you would like to learn more about OPT, or if you intend to apply for OPT, please plan on attending one of the OPT workshops offered during the spring semester.

This workshop will focus on Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Pre-completion Optional Practical Training (OPT) for F-1 students who intent to obtain a summer internship in the U.S. Topics to be covered are: eligibility to apply, the application process and maintaining status while on an approved period of training authorization. This workshop is open to all F-1 students who are interested in learning more about these two types of off-campus training authorizations.

Join the Society of Wetland Scientists Student Association at MIIS for a panel discussion on engaging diverse audiences in private sector environmental projects. Ben LePage, PG&E Remediation Program Manager, is joined by colleagues to discuss how practitioners engage with the public and the government from project design to implementation to ensure equity, environmental justice, and representation.

Join us for an exciting trip to the Elkhorn Slough! While there, the education staff has generously agreed to give us a full “scientist for the day” experience, complete with a guided naturalist hike, water sampling, and more! This will be a great way to get a sense for where the data policy developers use comes from and how it’s gathered - and try your own hand at collecting it. Have you ever explored a salt marsh? Join us to discover what makes Elkhorn Slough such an important and unique ecosystem, while enjoying a nice day out kayaking. You will also become a citizen scientist by helping us assess how sea level rise could affect this area.
