Winter Carnival at Snowbowl & Rikert – February 14-15, 2025

As we gear up for Winter Carnival on February 14 and 15, 2025, we look forward to an exciting weekend of competition, music, and community spirit at the Middlebury College Snowbowl and Rikert Outdoor Center. This year, we are emphasizing a safe and welcoming event. We are also making Saturday at the Snowbowl a dry event, meaning no alcohol will be served or permitted on site.

The Bogburn Classic brings together skiers of all ages for a friendly competition highlighting the roots of cross country skiing. The course ideally winds through the woods in a single track.

The Bogburn Classic Ski Race at Rikert

This will mark the 36th edition of the Bogburn Classic, an event steeped in celebrating the roots of cross country skiing — and the third running of the event in Ripton. Traditionally held in Pomfret, Vermont on a single track, the event needed some new legs due to climate change — Rikert’s robust snowmaking system, and the Frost Mountain Ski Club have stepped up to carry on the legacy of this event.

Watch Vermont’s best High School Nordic skiers compete on Rikert’s Tormondsen Race trail for the State crown in the Skate division. Individual races followed by team relays makes for an exciting day!

Vermont State High School Championship Nordic Skiing, Classic competition - watch all of the high school Nordic teams in the state compete in individual races in the morning and school/team relays in the afternoon. An exciting way to end the season!

Rikert Fatbike Round-up

A day of Fatbiking Group rides on the Rikert trail system, check out some of Green Mountain Bikes cool fat bikes, games, a bonfire and cookout. Participants can bring their own bike – though tires must be at least 3.5 inches wide to qualify! Rental bikes are available at a first come first serve basis for an additional cost. The day will conclude with a post ride gathering for some extra good refreshments.
